VAPP Act (Full)
The Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act of Nigeria (VAPP Act, 2015) provides protection against all forms of violence, including physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse, as well as stalking, harassment, and harmful traditional practices. Section 1 covers rape and sexual assault, criminalizing non-consensual sexual acts with penalties of up to life imprisonment. Section 3 covers sexual harassment, providing protection against unwanted sexual advances or intimidation on campuses. Section 4 covers stalking and unsolicited communication.
National Legal Protection
These provisions are prosecutable under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP 2015). Survivors are entitled to support, protective orders, and anonymity safeguards.
