Nigerian Constitution: Right to Dignity
Section 34 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria states: 'Every individual is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person.' This means no person shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment. On campus, this protects you from harassment, intimidation, and any form of bullying by staff or students.
National Legal Protection
These provisions are prosecutable under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP 2015). Survivors are entitled to support, protective orders, and anonymity safeguards.
