VAPP Act: Understanding Rape & Consent
The Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act Section 1 defines rape as the penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person with any part of the body or an object without consent. Consent is NOT present if obtained by force, threat, or when the person is intoxicated or unconscious. Penalties include up to life imprisonment.
National Legal Protection
These provisions are prosecutable under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP 2015). Survivors are entitled to support, protective orders, and anonymity safeguards.
