VAPP Act (Full Guide)
The Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP) provides protection against all forms of violence, including stalking and harassment. Under this Act, perpetrators face strict legal consequences:
- Rape (Section 1): Life imprisonment or a minimum of 12 years.
- Physical Injury (Section 2): Up to 5 years imprisonment or fine.
- Sexual Harassment (Section 3): Up to 3 years imprisonment.
- Stalking (Section 4): Up to 2 years imprisonment.
- Spousal Battery (Section 5): Up to 2 years imprisonment.
- Abandonment of Dependants (Section 16): Up to 3 years imprisonment.
